The Family Drop In evolved out of our Grand/Parent-Tot Drop In which opened in May 2005 as the NH’s first program. Housed over the years in borrowed space at Lore Krill Housing Co-op, Shilogh Housing Society and the Japanese Language School, it has a permanent home as of March 2010 within our expanded programming space at 573 East Hastings. The Family Drop In is open Monday through Friday 3pm-6pm and affords families a place to socialize and nurture community, once they’ve picked up their infants and toddlers from Crabtree Corner Daycare and are joined by their older children coming back from Strathcona and Britannia Schools. Resource workers from sister organizations [eg Child and Youth Mental Health workers, Child Dental workers, Librarians et al], visit the Family Drop In on a rotating basis.
2010 will see our Family programming expand to include a Tween Club, Community Kitchens for Children and Youth, and a Youth Leadership Institute.
